Grace /grās/ verb - do honor or credit to (someone or something) by one's presence to confer dignity or honor on. To be blessed, enriched, equipped, supplied. And whew, ALL of my days run on grace--both giving and receiving. I try to model grace upon grace for my sweet (but sometimes trying) kiddos and God is constantly pouring out his grace upon me! We all need grace. We are all broken. We all make mistakes. And not one of us is above giving or receiving grace.
Learning to surrender; however, is a far less easy portion. To fully surrender ourselves has to first start with humility. And let's face it, humility is not a word thrown around in today's society. It's far easier to insert "I" or "mine" than to admit you need help or don't have the answer. Being prideful is something the world wants us to strive for BUT our loving God wants us to turn away from. What you'll find when you are humbled is that you know that you cannot do it, whatever the task is, without God. AND THAT'S PERFECTLY OKAY. That is absolutely what God wants! So when we surrender ourselves fully to His Will, not our own, we will be freed. We will find peace. We will find a closer relationship with God. We will find rest. We will ultimately find the ability to have joy in ALL circumstances.
And the truest of truths confirms this:
“Humble yourselves, therefore, under the mighty hand of God so that at the proper time he may exalt you,” 1 Peter 5:6 ESV
“And he said to all, “If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow me.” Luke 9:23 ESV
“Commit your work to the Lord, and your plans will be established.” Proverbs 16:3 ESV
“In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths.” Proverbs 3:6 ESV
“Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding.” Proverbs 3:5 ESV
We were not meant to carry the burdens of the world alone - and that is WHY, Grace & Surrender. My dear friend, do not only offer grace, but accept it whole heartedly as well and surrender yourselves to a true life transformation in walking with and trusting in God!
Bountiful Blessings and Glorious Grace upon you!
